Evernote Notable Tech Event

Qipit and many Evernote partner companies including Fujitsu, Sony, Seesmic and many more will participate to the Evernote Notable Tech Event in San Francisco on February 25th, 2010. If you are in the bay area, make sure to come to the event and stop by the qipit table. Find more information such as registration on the Evernote Blog.

To our existing users of Qipit White who wonder about Evernote, or how Qipit and Evernote work together, you will find the right information below.

What is Evernote

It helps you remember things… it gives you a memory that competes with an elephant. How? By helping you to capture and store all the things you care about, from an article on a web page to a document. With its organization and search capabilities, you can find easily that stored content. Evernote is free, but if you need more memory space, advanced collaboration, versatility, and enhance security, you can go premium.

Qipit and Evernote

Since version 2.0, the social release of Qipit White, the application is seamlessly integrated with Evernote. All you have to do is to upload your copies directly from Qipit White with a title. Your high quality whiteboard, flip charts or paperboard copies will be available from anywhere. Cherry on the cake, the copy will be searchable thanks to the OCR capability of Evernote!

So, How does it work?

First, if you don’t have an account on evernote yet, create one by registering here.

Then, in Qipit White go the settings from the application deck by tapping the crank icon, scroll to accounts and tap on Evernote.

New Qipit White 3.0.0

February 5th, 2010

Qipit White version 3.0.0 is already available, once more as a free upgrade! The Qipit team was really surprised (and happy) to see this major release accepted by the Apple Review process in no time: it took only few hours before the application changed its status from In Review to Available for Sale.

To summarize, this release brings two important new features: Landscape Support and Copy Rotation.

Landscape Support

Most whiteboard are horizontal, and most copies are made in Landscape mode. For example, the default copy in the application is horizontal. Prior to this new release, rotating the application from portrait mode to landscape mode, by turning the iPhone 90 degrees, had not effect at all. This new version let you enjoy the deck view with all the copies in landscape mode, and more importantly the copy viewer. Try it on the default copy, the whiteboard copy fills up the entire screen as shown below.

Copy Rotation

If you happen to make copies of notepad or flyers, using the phone flat / parallel to the floor, you have probably face the 180 degrees automatic rotation of the photo. This happens when the phone is tilted more than a certain angle, a convenient feature when you take photography vertically, but no so much when you make copy of a document laying on a table. With the new version, no worries if this happens again, process the image into a copy and rotate twice to cancel the 180 degrees effect.

After the rotation

The other use case is the ability to copy an A4/Letter style material holding the phone in landscape mode. This can happen when you try to get the best lighting for the best results or simply for personal preferences. In this case, after the copy is made, simply rotate the result once and you are in business!

In addition to few bug fixes in the application, you will probably notice that the navigation icons are more standard, more iPhone-sque :)

So go ahead, capture and share the world with Qipit White!

Cheers,
-Olivier

What’s New in Qipit White 2.0.1

January 19th, 2010

The new version of Qipit White is now available on the Apple App Store, it is a FREE upgrade to all our users! Although labelled as a minor release, this version comes with new features, a new language supported and of course, few bug fixes. You will find below many reasons to upgrade :)

New features!

Friendlier deck for first time users with a default copy

To improve the first time experience with Qipit White, we have added a whiteboard copy by default. This lets new users interact directly with a whiteboard copy without the need to take a single shot with the camera. We hope this instant gratification will be appreciated.

Deletion from the application Deck

The deck of the application that contains all the copies, lets you access an edit mode with a new button at the top right corner. The edit mode enables the deletion of copies quickly by pressing the “X” mark at the top left hand corner. This feature is handy when you want to delete multiple copies.

Preference: Start with camera mode

Prior to version 2.0, the application always started in camera mode for minimizing the number of clicks to copy a whiteboard. Although this feature improves productivity, we are aware that some of you want to see the deck first, and browse the copies. It is now possible to select in the preferences (accessible from the crank icon) if the application starts with the camera mode or start with the deck.

Twitter Message Character countdown

The ability to share on social media sites was added in version 2.0. In addition to sharing a copy thru Twitpic, you can add a twitter message. In version 2.0.1, the text entry will prevent you to enter too many characters and gives you the number of remaining characters in your message.

Japanese Support

Qipit White 2.0 was localized in English, French and Spanish. As iPhones have become more popular in Japan, we are now supporting the Japanese language in the application. Arigato to all our new Japanese users who ranked the application in the Business Top 50 shortly after its availability.

Fixed Bugs

Qipit White 2.0 was released with switched labels between Send copy as JPG and Send copy as PDF with email. This created confusion about the availability of the PDF feature in the application, and we sincerely apologize for that. We are happy to report that the label switch between JPG and PDF is fixed in 2.0.1.

We are also glad to report that social media sharing is now more robust. We had few bugs when the connection was not available. Thank you to the Apple review process for pointing those issues that we have fixed.

Your feedback is really important, so make sure to drop us an email with your requirements for future release or other products. Make sure to tell your friends about the application as well as give us a review on the iTunes store if you have not already done so.

Cheers,
-Olivier
