Not on the tip sheet is a point he made about who should run social media within your organization does it fall under marketing, public relations, sales or customers service. His answer was yes to all. Yes social media is an extension to all of this groups, but whoever is the most passionate about social media should take the lead in your organization.

I have always thought, social media is not a job, it is a lifestyle. So passion is a very important component of being successful in social media relations. If your passionate, you know what you are talking about, and you have a good product, everything else will fall in place.

Allen Olivo, VP Gloabal Brand marketing at Yahoo spoke today (10/10/07) at the Innotech Confrence in Austin(http://www.innotechconference.com/austin/). He was previously at Apple, seem to make sense as he wore the Steve Jobs black on black attire. You can the bay area guys in Austin, who would ever wear black on black in Texas, it is to hot. Allen discussed the Consumer 2.0 who has, infinite choices on demand all the time. The consumer 2.0 is 1 click away from never coming back. That is a pretty strong reality of consumer today. They have lot's of choices and it has never been easier to find an alternative (ie Your Competitor). If you don't do it right, someone else will.

Allen's 4 pillars of Web 2.0
* Search - People need to be able to find what they are looking for easily
* Content - There needs to be content of value/relevance to them
* Community - The tools to share easily need to be provided
* Personalization - People want to be able to make it unique to them

Allen makes some great points.

Some other interesting factoid is that there is an average of 50 minutes a day spent at work managing fantasy football teams. Maybe that is why I am losing in my league. I am putting in about 40 minutes a week.

Tommy Blake of Aransas Pass High school (a returning senior defensive end at TCU) on the cover of Dave Campbell's 2007 Texas Football Magazine along with Texas A& M quarterback, Stephen McGee of Burnet and University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy of Tuscola. Here is the article, but you should pick one up, the cover is great.

When you grow up in a small Texas town like Aransas Pass, it's not everyday you look up while buying your groceries at HEB to see the college football preview magazines and see someone from your home town on the cover. Even more rare to see an x-panther athlete in the company of the two quarterbacks from the preeminent Texas football Colleges, Texas A&M and Texas. Believe it, because it has happened.

Good for you Tommy Blake, show those quarterbacks what you are made of this year. Just take it easy on Stephen McGee if you play my Ags. It would be nice if we could put a sign in AP like the one in Rockport for Dat Nguyen. Hopefully he will end up with the Cowboys, we could always use more defense.
